What happens if you get an Alert - IoT Sensors and Platform

When an Alert is generated you and your Family and Friends will be notified using the option each of you have chosen.

At that time, the Household status will be set to RED ALERT.

TWO things MUST be done by FAMILY & FRIENDS

  • ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY for the Alert
  • RESOLVE the Alert

If you are the only one in the family circle then this is done in 1 step, if there are more than one person in the family circle then these are two distinct steps.

Responsibility Process

3rings uses a Responsibility Process which works as follows:

  • Alert Raised – 3rings tells all Family & Friends
  • One Family member needs to take Responsibility
    – the other family members get told who is reacting to the Alert so they don’t panic.

When this happens status changes to Orange
  • The person accepting responsibility checks their loved one
  • If everything is OK they resolve the Alert. This tells all the family everything has been sorted and what the situation was. Status reverts to Green.

On-Going Reminders
If no one takes responsibility then we will send alerts again 5 mins later, then 10, 20 40 minutes later. If no one responds then it drops to daily.

Once someone has taken responsibility we remind that person on the same basis as above.

REMEMBER: 3rings is an automated service which will only inform the Family & Friends of Alerts based upon their Events and chosen methods of communications. We do NOT provide a first responder or follow up service. It is the responsibility of the Family & Friends to decide the suitable course of action in the Event of an Alert happening.

How to accept RESPONSIBILITY
and RESOLVE the ALERTS.

A) Process if ONLY one person is in the
Family & Friends Circle

CHECK ON LOVED ONE & then Resolve Alert

Check your loved one is OK, once that is done then Go to 3rings and login to your account:

You will see the following display:

If you have more than one household, the one with the Alert will be brought to the front.

If everything is OK Click the Resolve button and status will go to Green then click Close.

Before hitting Resolve , you can also do two other things:

  • Tell us the reason for the alert. (This is Mandatory)
Click on the menu “What was the reason for the alert?” and select one of the 4 options:
    1. Emergency – There was an emergency that needed immediate attention.
    2. Action –action was needed but is wasn’t life threatening
    3. No Action needed – It was a valid alert, eg Mum didn’t use the kettle today but is OK
    4. False Alert – The alert should not have happened, either the technology failed safe, the rules are to limiting or something of this nature and not to do with the loved one.

Letting us know about the alert really helps us tune the system better for the future and helps us understand how the plug helps

  • Insert a message (This is optional)
This message will go to all other Family and Friends to let them know why there was an alert and what the current situation is and that everything is OK.

B) Process if MORE than one person is in the Family & Friends Circle

One family member needs to take responsibility as this lets the other family members know that someone else is checking.

1) Go to 3rings web site and login to your account, you will see this screen:

Either click the radio button to say that you are checking on your loved one or input a message that will be sent to all other family members letting them know you are checking. Then click “Notify Family & Friends”

The screen will change to Orange status waiting for you to check.

What happens if no Family & Friends Accepts RESPONSIBILITY or fails to RESOLVE the Alert.

3rings will keep sending alerts to all nominated Family & Friends until someone accepts responsibility. The time between alerts will increase and eventually stop.

If the Alert is waiting to be resolved, 3rings will send reminders to the person who accepted responsibility. The time between reminders will increase and eventually stop after a couple of hours and will then repeat daily.

Remember, the system is an automated one. When alerts happen only the family circle will be told. It is important that when an Alert happens that someone takes responsibility and resolves the Alert.
